    Prerequisites

    Backup your data

    Prior to starting migration perform a full backup of the files and database on both the target and source server to an external location. Make sure that the backups has been verified OK.

    Note

    The migration tool itself does not have any rollback functionality to restore the state before migration. It is important to perform backups/snapshots before performing the migration to easily be able to restore the environment._

    Note

    Recommended practice is, in addition to backing up before starting the installation, to perform the installation on an identical copy of the production environment to minimize the risk of corrupting your existing site resources._

    If you install ImageVault on a virtual server, please take a snap-shot before starting the installation process so that you can perform an easy roll-back in the odd case of installation failure.

    Updates

    Make sure your servers operating systems have the latest updates available.

    Latest version of ImageVault 3

    Make sure that the latest version of ImageVault 3 is installed.

    To run ImageVault 3 and ImageVault 4 on the same site, version 3.5.10 has to be installed. Instructions for installing it can be found below. Installation instruction

    Write permissions for the migration application

    The migration application writes log files and analysis data files to disk. Make sure write permission is set in the folder where the application is run.

    Disk space

    Since the migration process will re-create the current ImageVault 3 media in ImageVault 4, the disk that is configured to store ImageVault 4 media needs to have enough free space to accommodate the entire ImageVault 3 media storage.
